Cyrenaica Cooperative Society for Food Processing

From a women’s club to a cooperative society:

The club was established in 1998 as the first women's club in the town of Barqa, Nablus Governorate, and it was licensed in 2000 as one of the clubs affiliated with Agricultural Relief, and then became affiliated to the Rural Women's Development Association in 2001, and the club became administratively and financially affiliated to the Rural Women's Development Association.

The club started working on an emergency project, home gardens, land reclamation, violence against women and gender courses (social and educational courses), and a work-for-food project...etc. The Women's Development Association worked to strengthen the capabilities of women club members on several levels (economic, social, psychological and human rights), and people have acquired different capabilities that have contributed to strengthening their life role at the level of their families and at the level of their society.

In 2020, work was done on licensing the club as a cooperative association, and indeed the license was obtained and its name became “Burqa Cooperative Society for Food Processing” and it bears registration number 1668, and the number of female members of the cooperative reached 15 members, 5 of whom are administrative bodies.
