Engaging Communities in Transforming Domestic Violence Against Women

This project was designed as an extension of previous work RWDS has done around Violence Against Women (VAW) and is the core of our Violence Prevention Program for the next two years. This 24-month project was designed and is being implemented in coordination with LOKK (National organization of Women’s Shelters in Denmark) and Danish Palestinian Friendship Association, with funding from CISU/ Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This comprehensive project works in 16 villages in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank (Bethlehem, Ramallah and Nablus governorates) and aims to create awareness about the social consequences of VAW and the possibility to combat it, from the individual to the national level. This is done through educational work with women, men, youth and local decision-makers, provision of services and resources to women who experience violence and ongoing advocacy and information work around this important social issue. Comprehensive training is provided to RWDS staff in coordination with LOKK so we are able to give women in rural areas high quality services.
