Youth and Volunteering
Dear reader... dear reader
RWDS pays great attention to the youth group (of both gender), as it considers them the main element that guarantees real change in the Palestinian society towards the path of development, given that the youth group has the skills and physical and intellectual energies sufficient to go through the process of development and building the Palestinian society more than any other other age groups.
Our Palestinian youth have always waged a long struggle for liberation, so our trust in them and their insistence on volunteering for the sake of building the nation has not been shaken. Therefore, the Association for the Development of Rural Women has opened the doors of volunteering wide for all our Palestinian youth without discrimination on the basis of gender, color, religion or political affiliation. Therefore, we aspire to be one of the initiators/volunteers of the association because of the humanitarian work and moral duty our Palestine deserves.
If you wish to volunteer in the Rural Women's Development Association, you only need to fill out the (volunteering form) after reading the written paragraphs below, as we will contact you within a period not exceeding ten days.
What is volunteering?
Volunteering in the general sense is the services that an individual provides outside the framework of his work, without expecting any benefit or any material return, provided that these services benefit the community as a whole. In practice, there is a discrepancy between the types of volunteering, some of which are the exchange of specific services, the collective response to the needs of society in times of distress, or the defense of causes that improve the lives of individuals in society.
Who is the volunteer?
He is a person who has certain skills and abilities that he can harness to serve a group of individuals, institutions, or society as a whole, as he devotes his time, effort, and thinking to serve a worthy cause. One of the important qualities of a volunteer is that he believes in the work he does, and that he believes that individuals can make a difference towards a specific issue in society.
What is the importance of volunteering for civil society organizations?
Civil society organizations, which all operate as non-profit organizations, consider that volunteers are the basis for achieving the needs of society that it seeks to fill, and that they are the main element in achieving development goals and defending them for the rights and interests of individuals in society. In general, the administrative bodies of these institutions work on a voluntary basis, which indicates that a large percentage of the workers in these institutions are volunteers. In practice, volunteering reduces the cost of the human resources that these institutions need to implement their programs, which helps to increase these programs in quantity and quality.
On the other hand, the importance of volunteering for civil society organizations lies in the fact that it adds great experiences and energies that cannot be expected. Each volunteer has a stock of experiences and energies that differ from other individuals, and therefore the volunteer’s participation in these experiences will increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization. Also, the presence of volunteers who represent different age, geographic, educational, professional and economic groups can help to better identify societal needs, especially if these programs target youth. Volunteers can also implement a range of programs in their areas of residence, which increases the scope of work of civil society organizations and access to marginalized residential communities.
